Day of July 1868 at which time I was released and fined by the Court of the within named county $100 dollars 

when at the time we were called before the Court the said Tabb had no witness but one young Ladd by the name of Claburn Bland suppose to be 18 years old (white) who denied that I did committ any violances upon the said Tabb. But nevertheless the said John Tabb did then and there state to the said Court that he the said John Tabb went to get a gun to kill my brother & I. (namely  Baylor Thornton & John Thornton, (the two parties herein concerned) whereupon the Court made no objection; But did say this would be awarning for all the rest (negros) [[strikethrough]] the [[/strikethrough]] after and during the time of our imprisonment my Father went to see the Freedmens Bureau Agent and reported to him
