prosecution. And the Court doth further order that as a part of its judgment that the said Baylor Thornton be confined in the jail of this County for the space of thirty days and that the said John Thornton be confined in the said jail for the space of fifteen days. The defendants by their attorney moved the Court to set aside the said verdict and grant them a new trial, which motion is overuled.

Execution issued on the above judgts.
The Commonwealth of Virginia to the Sheriff of Gloucester County greeting We command you, that of the goods and chattels of John Thornton, colored, late in your bailiwick, you cause to be made the sum of twenty five dollars which we lately in our County Court, of Gloucester County have recovered against the said John Thornton for a fine imposed upon him for an assault and Battery committed on one John H Tabb---also ten dollars and seventy eight cents - which to us in the same court were adjudged for our costs by us about our eviction[?] that behalf expended; whereof the said John Thornton is convict as appears to us of record; and that you have the same at the Rules at the Clerk's office of our said Court, on the first Monday in August, next, to satisfy us of the fine and costs aforesaid. And have then there this writ. Witness John Thawley Clerk of our Said Court, at the Courthouse the 19th day of June 1868, and in the 92nd year of the commonwealth.
