Bureau Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands,
Head Quarters, 8th Sub. District of Virginia.
WYTHEVILLE, VA., Sept 25. 1868.

Bt Capt
Will A. Coulter
A A A G. Captain
I have it honor to ask that I may hereafter commencing Oct 1" 1868 be allowed to pay $10 a month rent for the school House owned by Mr Kyle in Cripple Creek. Mr Kyle is a useful man to us He is influential and of strong Southern views except that he fully believes in educating the negro. He has always in one way or another more than given the Rent to the Teacher. His wife holds a regular Sabbath school in the room. The building needs a new floor to make it habitable this winter. Mr Kyle will put it in whether we raise the rent or not but would like to have the Bureau pay an increased rent on this account. I sincerely hope this will be favorably considered, as I feel certain that if literally treated Mr Kyle will have a school going there long after the Bureau is abolished

I am Captain Very Respectfully Your Obt Servant
