generously built a School House and Church combine also a parsonage one half from his own Funds for the Freedmen.

He takes a great interest in his Schools and all his duties and accomplishes a good deal in a quiet way in fact I dont know how he could have done more.

Mr. McDougalls books and records at Abingdon were all imperfect and in no respect in accordance with instructions neither was the record full or neatly kept. He has succeeded but poorly compared with Capt Schaeffer in establishing Schools. His mind seems to be elsewhere.
