Captain:
Understanding that you design selling, at Public Auction on Tuesday 8th December 1868, the wooden tenement formerly used as Military Barracks at this place, which building was turned over to the County Court of York County for use as a Court House, by order of the Commanding General of the First Military District, State of Virginia, on the 17th day of June 1868. (Copy of order enclosed.) I would most respectfully ask - as by an order of the County Court at the June term I was instructed to take possession of said building, and at the November term, a committee was appointed to ascertain the necessary repairs and probable cost of same, to place the building in proper condition for the Court House - that you will postpone the sale of said building until after the next term of the Court, (which will take place on the 21st inst.) thereby enabling me
