General,
I find there is $100 bounty due to John Massenburg 37th U.S.C. Trps (deceased) being amount retained under General order No. 90 series 1864. Head Quarters Dept. Va. & N. Ca. - Application for his U.S. Bounty, by his mother Polly Massenburg, was forwarded from your office in communication dated April 8th 1867. To obtain the retained Bounty, she must make application and furnish sworn evidence that she is the mother of John Massenberg, who died leaving neither wife child or father - and also that she is the person who received the retained bounty of Squire Massenburg (deceased). The form of "Mothers application for bounty" can be used, erasing power of atty. If application is correct, vouchers will be sent for her signature.
Yours Respty.
