Dear Sir,
In reply to your communication of the 19th inst. I have the honor to state, that application was made by the New York Branch of the Amer. Freedmen Union Commission, for the building now being erected in the 3rd Ward of Alexandria, several weeks ago, which application was returned by me approved.

I regret my ignorance of your wishes at the time of my action in the matter, but will see that your interests in Alexandria do not suffer.

I have this day written to Capt. Lee, to see that suitable buildings are secured for your schools.

Yours respectfully
Your obt. Servt.

Captain,
You will please see that suitable buildings are secured and properly prepared for the accommodation of the schools of the Rep. Pres. Church.

It is desirable that, as far as possible, a territorial division should be made of the City. In making such division, you will consult with the Superintendent of each Society, and endeavor to arrange matters to the satisfaction of all parties.

Yours respectfully
