Dear Sir,
Your communication of July 26th, relative to transportation for Mr. & Mrs. A. B. Corliss, from Franklin Depot, Va., to Montphelier [[Montpelier]], Vt - was duly received.- In reply I have to inform you, that a requisition for transportation was received at this office for them on the 26th June, with instructions from Gen. Howard to furnish the transportation, provided he teachers came within the regulations of the Bureau governing transportation which are that "transportation will not be furnished teachers who have not been in the field for six months previous to July 1st 1867."- On the requisition being referred to the Superintendent of schools, it was found that Mr. and Mrs. Corliss received transportation in March last from Princeton, N.J., as their home- and that their school has been reported for less than six months. It was then returned to Gen. Howard recommending that the transportation be ordered to Princeton N.J.-
No new requisition has been received from Washington, it is presumed by reason of their not coming within the regulation above mentioned.

I am sir, Yours respecty.
