D.O. 228/243 General, I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your communication, dated Sept. 18th, enclosing check for $100. in payment of the retained bounty of Wm. Com'r 229/235 Major, I enclose herewith check No. 1096, on Nat'l Bank of the Republic, Washington, for $100, payable to Sarah Brown, being amount of retained bounty due her deceased brother Wm. Blufort, Priv. Co. G, 38th U.S.C. Tps. - You will deposit the same with the "National Freedmen's Savings and Trust Company" at Norfolk, Va., and forward the cashiers receipt for the same to these Head Quarters.
