Your telegram of yesterday, relative to non-receipt of Ration Returns was duly received. Your communications enclosing returns was not received until the 26th of September and was that day referred to the Surg: in chf, and received Back Sept. 29th and next day referred to Lieut H. Schreiner A.C.S. approved - Send the returns to these Head Quarters at least 10 days before rations are needed to avoid future delay.

The Asst Comr. directs that you order investigation and report to be made in reference to a case reported to these Head Qrs: of the killing of a colored man named Hudson by W.G. Taliaferro in Caroline Co. a few days since. It is asserted that Mr. Taliaferro was bailed in a small sum.

The action of the local authorities will be specially reported.
