284 870 December 21st 1867 Massey Bvt. Capt. F.J. A.S.A. Comr. (Thro. Sub. Dist Hd. Qrs.) 212/285 Captain, I enclose herewith an official copy of a letter dated Dec. 16th 1867, received from A.O. Hitchcock late Capt A.D.C. and Prov. Marshal - relative to the money which Lewis E. Perrin, requested the aid of the Bureau in obtaining, in his letters of August 2nd & 27th 1867. Respectfully O. Am much obliged for the information contained therein - Please send me a copy of the receipt you hold for the money, together with the name of the Bureau officer, through whom the money was sent, and the manner of transmittal. Comr. 875 December 24th 1867 Havens 2nd Lieut. Morton A.S.A. Comr. 199/ Lieut., Will you remain in the service of this Bureau, as a Civilian Agent after your muster-out Jan'y 1st 1868. The rate of pay, for Civilian Agents cannot be fixed until the action of Congress, upon an amendment of the present Bureau law, which is now before it, is known.- The amendment referred to, provided for the continuance, after your muster-out, of your present pay and allowances.
