METROPOLITAN MUSEUM - Mr. Remington and Mr. Wehle took up with me the matter of photographs for their 18th Century Exhibition, and I showed them the photographs which you had put aside.

The DAVID, which is dated 1807, and the BOILLY, which is a later picture, were immediately excluded on account of their date. The VALENTON Group were considered too large and the whole thing boiled down to the HOUDON, HUBERT ROBERT, and BOUCHER of Walters.

The Exhibition, however, has been postponed until December, as Mr. Blumenthal wants to make a great social event out of it, with French music, etc.

WIMPFHEIMER COLLECTION - The prices which Mrs. Wimpfheimer has put on her pictures are the following:

VIGEE LE BRUN $75,000.-
PATER 25,000.-
WATTEAU 17,500.-
DE TROY (Pair) 40,000.-
LARGILLIERE 10,000.-
HUBERT ROBERT (Pair) 25,000.-
PERONNEAU 4,000.-

March 28th, 1935.

MRS. PAYSON - I had lunch several times with Chaqueneau, who is trying to get me in touch with Mrs. Payson, but when this lady came back, she became ill. So far nothing new.

MRS. PALEY / HARTFORDS - Mrs. Paley is still away, and also the Hartfords.

BOUTET DE MONVEL - Left for St. Louis to paint a portrait, but came here to look at our English pictures, the idea being that perhaps he could suggest them to Mrs. Johnson whom he is surely going to see.

PERCY STRAUS - I went after him again but he sent me a message that he would get in touch with me. So far he has not.

IRWIN UNTERMEYER - I wrote to him about the Rasmussen Embroideries; he wrote back that he would come in as soon as possible for he was very interested, but he has not come in yet.

WALTER HEIL - Before he left he asked me to send a photograph of the RHEINISH Picture with a special price. As we have the picture on consignment at $1500.-, I made him a special price of $3500.0. He told me that he had found such amasing bargains here, such as a fine diptych by BELLEGAMBE at Reinhardts, which they were willing to sacrifice, let go for a song - a great deal less than what it cost them.

PALEY line and given it's own line, however, the HARTFORDS are in the same header line because this is where they are mentioned. This is how they quick referenced names. Put back and resent for review. ---------- Reopened for Editing 2024-02-04 13:38:59 Reopened for Editing 2024-02-03 02:24:30 MS. fixed so everything is left justified, fixed line breaks, and typos. made painting list better, but not table. sent back to review. ---------- Reopened for Editing 2024-02-02 21:07:28 ----------
