March 28th, 1935.

CHURCH OSBORN - Have been after the Wm Church Osborns two or three times, but they have never come in.

MRS. MYRON TAYLOR - Met her at a cocktail party. She invited me for tea; is leaving in two weeks for Florence.

MRS. W. MURRAY CRANE - Saw Mrs. Crane again. I am to go there shortly.

EARLE ROWE - We had the visit of Earle Rowe, who borrowed our CHASSERIAU for a large exhibition of Painting having to do with North Africa. They have quite a number of paintings loaned them by museums. In the course of conversation he told me that they thought they would like to buy a POUSSIN.

WM GREVE - Dr. Heil told me to use his and Mr. Fleishhacker's name to get in touch with Mr. Wm Greve. Mr. Greve is a man who sometime ago bought Keller's Rembrandt, and also has several minor English portraits. Until recently he was very wealthy but Mr. Fleishhacker did not know what his present condition was.

ALDAO - Aldao came here to look at some of our English pictures. I had invited him to as he is very friendly with Lorraine Manville Gould. He mentioned the pictures, but she told him she did not want to buy anything these days.

SCHIFF - I saw Schiff twice and he was very amiable, but obviously is not at all interested in art - as a matter of fact, I went there with Remington and Wehle and Schiff was as amiable as could be, a gentleman who is thoroughly bored by such a performance. For the time being, Thank God, nothing to sell there.

HENRY WALTERS - You will find in the mail two letters which are full of menace. I am under the impression that Mrs. Walters is going to sell at auction.

ROSENFELD - His pictures are for sale, but at reasonable prices - about half of what he paid for them.

MRS. STEWART WALKER - Had the idea to borrow small pictures and make an exhibition at Knoedlers. Wildensteins, Bignou, Knoedler, and ourselves are the principal lenders. We have loaned:

[[3 Columned Table]]

GOULD- isn't technically part of the paragraph, so took it out. added as marginalia, since he was highlighting the name. ---------- Reopened for Editing 2024-02-02 13:32:03 ---------- Reopened for Editing 2024-02-03 02:40:42 ---------- Reopened for Editing 2024-02-03 10:14:55
