CHRISTMAS GREETINGS

Vine tracings on my book - room screen
Inspired this year my Christmas theme.
A wooden cross - a window sash - ´tis true,
But CHRIST´S EMBLEM - His message to you.

From early childhood through the years
Crosses have been our constant fears
For in peace and war and its aftermath
They´ve clung to us along life´s path.

Crosses of white - red-double-and gold
All have a message - Characters to mold:
Each cross a symbol, CHRIST´S - SALVATION
His sacred cross, humanity´s consolation.

His cross alone - like a beacon light
Which dispels darkness of the night
Will lighten our crosses - heavy, indeed.
Faith in I.H.S. - What better daily creed?

The Chimes peal out each Christmas morn
The Joyful Tidings - "CHRIST is born
PEACE ON EARTH - GOOD WILL TOWARDS MEN"
The Star of Bethlehem brings hope again.

May Yule Tide abound with right good cheer
A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS - A HAPPY NEW YEAR
With joy and hope and COURAGE every hour
Is the Christmas wish of BERTHA BAUR.
