Dear Germain:

I have just received a very nice letter from Mr. Siple telling me that Mr. Williams went to the hospital a week ago and was seriously ill with double pneumonia, but that at the time of writing he believed that Mr. Williams was out of danger, but he added that he would be unable to see anyone for some time to come.

I have just written a letter to Siple telling him how sorry I was to hear this and asking him confidentially, if he would let me know when Mr. Williams had quite recovered, as I would plan my visit to Cincinnati accordingly.

I have likewise dropped a few lines to Mr. Williams.

By the bye, I had lunch with COSMO HAMILTON the writer the day before yesterday, and he is an extremely interesting person from our point of view as he preesonally [[personally]] knows everyone in England. His grand-father having been equerry to the late Queen Victoria, and he knows quite a lot about art.

I understand DUVEEN has been after him several times, but Hamilton doesn't like him at all. Hamilton knows a certain English peer who owns about twenty RAEBURNS and the year before last Duveen asked him to give him an introduction. Apparently an appointment was made, but DUVEEN turned up one hour late, and his lordship refused to receive him and he has never been able to get into the house since.

He also knows someone who has the greatest collection of PRE-RAPHAELITES in the world, owning about 200 of them. This probably doesn't excite you but nevertheless I would like to talk to you about this matter.

Hoping your holiday is doing you a lot of good, and with my kindest regards, believe me to be,

Yours sincerely,
