James Edgar.Esq.
24 Broad Street
NEW YORK.

Dear James,

I am particularly writing you these few lines to enquire from you as to what you think of the present conditions of the stock market in New York to-day.Seeing from here it seems as if the C.J.O. had taken a very serious liking in the last few strikes. These, which in my mind were paramount for the uneasiness privailing on the stock market, are now removed,or are least about to be and it seems as a new life should be given to business. These views seem also to be shared by a few Americans whom I have seen here recently.Don't let these impress you in any way, but I thought that I would communicate them to you.

As for the situation in France, I am only talking of the internal conditions,as for the internationel ones,no one can have any opinion whatsoever.People as a whole have been extremely pleased with the constitution of the new Cabinet. The Socialist party Meeting, which is meeting in Marseille in a little while, may upset things, but I don't think so.The Chautemps Government is basicly the same as the Blum one,but it has given hopes to people who feared too radical a trend and on the other hand it will also enable the Socialist leaders of a conservative nature to back out or at least to make time with some of the reforms, which were pressed upon them by the extremist elements.

I hope that Lucie is enjoying good health and that you are having a pleasant summer.

With kindest regards to the two of you,

I am,as ever,

yours very sincerely,
