“Believing that the natural resources of this Continent are economic, social, recreational and esthetic assets which should be restored and perpetuated for our posterity, and realizing that this can be achieved only through an aroused and enlightened opinion among the people of this nation, we dedicate this Federation to these ends.”

To my friends in Conservation:

For twenty-five years wildlife conservationists have dreamed of accomplishing a coordinated nation-wide movement for conservation. There are, all together, between eleven and fifteen million of us who are members of some local organization interested in wildlife conservation. The job of harnessing these various organizations together in a popular front to compel adequate recognition of consistent wildlife restoration won't cost much money but it will cost something.

The returns from the national sale of Wildlife Week Poster Stamps, as per enclosed sheet, will be used by the General Wildlife Federation to give continuity to its legislative program; to disseminate conservation news and service its affiliated organizations in all parts of the country; to carry on an extensive educational program among the youth of the nation; to bring to the front the absolute importance of conservation measures and to balance the overhead expense of maintaining the Federation headquarters in Washington, D.C.

The Federation is composed in the forty-eight states variously of the following affiliates: National Council of State Garden Clubs, Farm Groups, General Federation of Women's Clubs, Izaak Walton League Chapters, Hunting and Fishing Clubs, Parent-Teacher's Association, Civic Bodies, Chambers of Commerce, Garden Clubs of America, American Legion Posts, Future Farmers, 4-H Clubs, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Campfire Clubs. Any organization interested in Conservation is eligible for membership and there are no dues. The Federation strives for a cleaner, better America. Proper land use, the preservation of our forests and the purification of our waters will help make it so for our own and future generations.

Use the enclosed stamps on your letters during and after National Wildlife Restoration Week (officially proclaimed by President Roosevelt, March 20th-26th) to publicize the cause. Please pin a dollar bill to the coupon attached and send it to us.

Yours for Wildlife
