For Mr. Germain Séligmann.

3 East 51st Street
New York, New York
August 1st, 1936

Dear Mr. Seligmann:

Mr. Harding just confirmed the conditions under which he is willing to consign the painting by Raeburn, "Portrait of Sir Robert Hodshon Cay" to us.

We will call for it during the last week of September which will insure its reaching you sometime at the beginning of October.

Should the painting not be sold, it must be returned to him in New York by January 15th, 1939.

He is giving us permission to have the painting cleaned, and will bear a limit of $30.- for his one-half share of this expense.

Regarding insurance, he will give instructions to keep this painting covered while in our custody, but will you be good enough to always notify us by cable if this picture should leave your galleries, giving us the point of destination. Additional premiums will be at our expense.

All expenses in connection with the shipment are to be borne by us.

I trust that you will be satisfied with the outcome of these negotiations, and with my best wishes,

very sincerely yours,

M. Georges Seligmann
