Dear Mr. Séligmann:

MR. EDGAR - Bought 200 shares Bucyrus Erie Co. at 12-1/2 (they are manufacturers of heavy steam shovels and other contracting machinery).

PICASSOS - As per your cabled request, we are shipping in separate cases per S. S. ILE DE FRANCE leaving New York on July 28th, our "Homme à la Guitare" as well as "L'Italienne" belonging to Wildenstein.

CLAIM DEGAS "DANSEUSES ROSES" - I was very sorry to hear that this picture was damaged, and I certainly would be glad to get some more details regarding the nature of this damage. This picture was shipped separately and very carefully packed as I distinctly remember giving Tom special instructions in this respect, knowing how delicate pastels are. At all events, I have written to Lloyd's as requested. Please also note that this picture was - as agreed with Durand-Ruel - insured for its entire cost price by us. You may recall that for simplicity's sake we have always followed the same procedure with jointly owned works of art: that whoever has custody of any such object is also responsible for the full cover.

STEPHEN C. CLARK - I had advised him by letter that the Renoir has been passed by the Customs, and asked him for further instructions. Not having heard from him for more than a week and the insurance expiring on July 25th, I called him up on the phone with the result that he came in to examine his purchase. He seems genuinely enthusiastic about this Renoir, but told me that since he would not be back in the city before the end of September, he would much prefer to leave it at our galleries until that time. I, therefore, wired Lloyd's to extend the insurance up until September 30th. I also confirmed to Mr. Clark that this picture is covered for that period for his account. The painting has been put in cardboard (same as "Demoiselles d'Avignon") and is now in the second floor reserve room.

DE CHIRICO - Enclosed please find copy of his letter returning the signed exhibition contract. I merely acknowledged receipt.

BROOKLYN MUSEUM - Returned in good condition the Segonzac drawing of a Nude which they had since last April.
