Dear Mr. de Hauke:

I had to visit of Mr. Carl Schniewind of the Brooklyn Museum to whom I had sent Dubourg's certificate regarding the drawing by Toulouse-Lautrec a few days ago.

I am very sorry to trouble you in this respect knowing that you are always very busy, but Mr. Schniewind tells me that this certificate does not mean very much to him as far as the provenance is concerned.

What he would like to have — that is what he insists upon having — is proof that this is the drawing which was in the family of the artist and in the collection de Celeyran. In other words, if it would be in any way possible to get documentary proof on hand of the Toulouse-Lautrec family papers and also the ones of de Celeyran, it would be just about perfect.

Mr. Schniewind will be in Paris during August and September and can be reached:—

% M. Le Corbusier
55, Rue de Sèvres.

I trust that since the Brooklyn Museum seems to be terribly anxious about this, you will be able to straighten it out to their satisfaction without too much trouble.

With every good wish,

Very sincerely yours,

C.M. de Hauke, Esq.
9, Rue de la Paix
Paris, France
