THE FIRST ANNIVERSARY OF THE BREAKING OF GROUND SEES THE FOUNDATIONS COMPLETED FOR THE NATIONAL GALLERY OF ART.

An airplane view of the walls of the $15,000,000.  structure, now being built to house the pictures given to the nation by the late Andrew W. Mellon, on the site which embraces the blocks bounded by Constitution Avenue, Seventh Street, the North Mall Drive and Four and One-Half Street in Washington.

A scale model of the National Art Gallery Building, designed by the late John Russell Pope. In size the gallery will rank with the largest in the world, with dimensions of 784 feet in length and 305 feet in width.
