Dear César:

I called yesterday on Mr. Aldus C. Higgins in Worchester. You might remember that I spoke quite a number of times about his man, who is very important.

He owns a portrait representing ROGER DE LA FRESNAYE, which he tells me he purchased from Paul Rosenberg, and he added, is identical to the one in the Luxembourg or Louvre. This painting is quite large in size and would measure, I gather, about 30" x 25". He expressed himself so strangely about this portrait that I was wondering whether it was by La Fresmaye. I told him how interested we were in this artist and how glad I was to see that he had it, in case we succeeded in arranging the exhibition might be willing at some time to part with it.

This might be an excuse for you to go and see Paul Rosenberg. Do not tell him, but that we might have an exhibition and as Mr. Higgins seemed to be so vague about the provenance, whether he would be willing to tell us where it came from for cataloguing purposes.

I thoughtthat the one in Paris was a much smaller one ??

I am sending you herein a list of drawings and water-colors which LE GARREC-SAGOT just sent me here. Who knows whether they haven't something of interest!
