January 30th., 1939.

My dear Mrs. Marshall:

I had, on Saturday, gathered a little box of sweets which I had been long so much looking forward to handing you personally before the Doctor forced me to cancel the trip I had anticipated with such pleasure. Howeve [[however]] I hope you will not mind my sending you these sweets today by Parcel Post.

Will you please accept them as a token of the enjoyment it would have given me to be your guest, and which I hope is only postponed a little while.

Do believe I truly disappointed I am, and I trust that I did not put you out too much.

Please give my very warm regards to the General, and,
looking forward to having soon the pleasure of presenting
my respects to you,

Believe me to be,

Yours very sincerely,

Mrs. G. C. Marshall
