Fiche for Mr. Germain Séligmann
From Mr. C.M. de Hauke

December 12th, 1940

I have looked over carefully the painting which has been left with us on consignment and which was given as an original work by TOULOUSE-LAUTREC, from the collection of Mr. H. P., and I have come to the conclusion — which, of course, is a personal one — that I could see no reason for this picture to be by this artist, and I, therefore, do not favor our handling it.

This statement, of course, reflects an impression which as far as I am concerned is a conviction, but nevertheless, one can always make mistakes, as you have said yourself so often, one is never infallible with which I perfectly agree.

César de Hke.
