December 18th., 1940 Dear General Truesdell: You may not remember me, but in the grand days of Contigny I used to be Captain and Liaison Officer with the First Division, and I remember you. It therefore gave me such pleasure to see your signature on your appeal for another 1500 Infantrymen. If I had a son I couldn't think of a greater outfit in which I would like him to serve, than the old First, whose traditions, I am sure, under your command will be brilliantly continued! Looking forward to having soon again an opportunity of seeing you, I am Yours very sincerely, (Germain Seligmann) Major General Karl Truesdell, Fort Hamilton, Brooklyn, N.Y.
