Dear Thérèse:

What a mess I am evidently making of my social
engagements! After having told you this morning
how much I was looking forward to seeing you a
week from Monday - which I felt sure was free-
arriving at my office, I find that I have an
engagement, most almost a month ago, to attend
a concert.

Could we make it the following Monday? I feel
so sorry about all of this and do hope you will
understand and forgive me.

Please also excuse this typewritten note, but
with my neuritis this morning I can hardly
hold a pen.

With kindest thoughts,
