July 28th., 1942.

My dear Mr. Asofsky:

Your letter on June 15th., re ARMOND & ANTOINETTE
SELIGMANN, Lisbon, has only been brought to my attention today, as I was laid up with an appendectomy (by the way, I am Mr. Germain Seligmann and not Miss).

I am indeed surprised with the contents of your letter as I knew nothing about the request made by my relatives to come over here and had never been approached directly or indirectly. When you mention an affidavit to be filed, I surmise that it is one of character and not of support.

In view of the above, I have not heard of course, from the "Visa section of the Department of State", nor do I expect to.

Due to my health, I am only going to be in New York two or three days more and I would be obliged to you for looking into this now and calling me up at Plaza-3-0250, as I am of course most anxious to be of any help within my power.

Yours very sincerely,

Mr. Isaac L. Asofsky,

Attention Miss May Paley,
Hebrew Sterling and
Immigrant Aid Society,
425 Lafayette Street,
New York, New York.
(Germain Seligmann)
