My dear friend:

I was unable to find the copy of the letter I wrote to the State Department but below you will find the information required.

Alan Gautier Levy, alias Alan Gautier Jones, was born on June 26, 1913, at Jouy-en-Josas, Seine et Oise. He studied at the Lycee Janson de Sailly. He is a Bachelor of Arts. Then he worked at the Law School of the University of Paris and received the degree of Master in Law. He then entered business and worked with his father both as a wool manufacturer in Elbeuf, Blin & Blin, and as a wool dealer in Paris, 49 Rue Etienne Marcel. He lived in Paris at 128 Boulevard Maurice Barres, Neuilly-Sur-Seine.

He was drafted at the beginning of the war, was taken prisoner in May, 1940 and escaped from the prison camp in Germany early in 1941. He then escaped from France to Spain a week after the total occupation of the previously Unoccupied Zone. During the short interval between, he married Miss Reinach and lived with his father and mother, Mr. & Mrs. Roger Levy, and his two sisters, Monique and Francine, 23 and 21 years old respectively, at 14 Rue des Colonels Laucee, Agen, Lot et Garonne.

Very sincerely yours,
Robert Wallis
