Dear Carl:

I am asking you to write a note on your firm's letterhead, as a sponsor for my character. It is to be appended to an affidavit of support which I am sending to the State Department in order to obtain a visa for someone who fled the "unoccupied" Zone just before the Germans arrived and who is at present in a Concentration Camp in Spain.

Besides all of the papers which I have to supply, two sponsors of repute are needed to vouch for me, and I thought of you as one of them.

Thanking you in advance, and with best regards,

Sincerely,

(Germain Séligmann)
