Department of State,
Washington, D. C.

Gentlemen:

I have known Mr. Germain Seligmann for the past few years, during which my firm has represented him as attorneys.

Mr. Germain Seligmann is the executive head of Jacques Seligmann & Co., Inc., the business founded by his late father, Mr. Jacques Seligmann, and which for many years has occupied an outstanding position in the field of art, and is well known to art connoisseurs and laymen alike.

Mr. Seligmann's reputation, ability, financial standing and position in the community are beyond question. He is a man of great personal charm, of culture, education and refinement.

During the First World War he served with the French Army and the First Division of the American Expeditionary Forces, in the capacity of Captain, and as a result of his services received not only the Croix de Guerre, but also the Distin-guished Service Medal of the United States.

It is a privilege to write this letter on his behalf.

Very truly yours,
David S. Galton
