March 16th., 1945.

Dear Mr. Rose:

At the very stirring meeting of last night, I pledged myself for One Hundred Dollars, which I am enclosing.

However, that is not the purpose of these few lines, which is to ask you whether it would be possible to obtain copies of some of the excellent speeches which were delivered. Some I realize were extemporaneous, others were read - like Mrs. Gunther's for instance, and Mr. Paul Muni's recital of Ben Necht's (?) verses.

I would like to be able to distribute some of these to several of my friends, who, as was so well pointed out last night, remain aloof and seemingly unaffected. Furthermore, should you have a few minutes to answer me, I would like to know whether simultaneously with this campaign for a Jewish army, in which you take such a dynamic part, action is being taken to give Palestine a more definite status, as in my mind the one hinges on and goes hand-in-hand with the other. A Jewish State infers a Jewish Army, and A Jewish Army in turn infers a Jewish State.

Yours very sincerely,
