mother and Aunt, expect to make my headquarters here until Rudy returns. Should you come out to this coast do be sure and let me know. It appears you are having very cold weather, whilst here it has been really delightful, the sunshine very warm, the ocean extremely blue and a few roses in the garden--

I do hope that you have a pleasant Christmas Germain, I do not say merry as how can we be "merry" these dark days" but a Happy New Year to you and may 1945 bring an end to this dreadful war. Again many thanks for your charming note it was very sweet of you - and do not forget in case you should come to California to let me know.

With renewed best wishes

Most Sincerely,

Virginia
