HILL

HILL came in with a tall and heavy gentleman and a thin, skinny lady in the 57s to look at some paintings. I showed them the minimum I could to make it an interesting visit, and nevertheless, left material to show him next week in case you would like to see him on Monday next when he comes.

The lady has promised to come back the beginning of July. The elderly gentleman mentioned a Mrs. Jenny Hills as having eight REDON flowers in her drawing room and the fact that a Mrs. Riddle is trying to sell her CASSATTS; and he added that she had beautiful DEGAS and MANET. He believes the CASSATTS [[strikethrough]] is [[/strikethrough]] are a "Mother and Child" and a "Woman in a Bathtub", for which she wants $6,000. Not knowing whether you know Mrs. Riddle, I was vague. So if you do not know Mrs. Riddle and cannot tackle the matter directly, the one who is going to see Hill on Monday or Tuesday will be able to tackle the matter with Hill.

They saw:
LA FRESNAYE "Quatorze Juillet"
LA FRESNAYE "Playing Cards"
LA FRESNAYE "Still life"
VUILLARD "Portrait of a Woman". Elderly gentlemen fell in love as well as the two others.
DEGAS "Achille de Gas"
PICASSO "Nymph and Satyr"
FANTIN LATOUR "Asters in a Glass". They all fell in love; and I mentioned the price, $7,000.-
COROT "Cueillette dans le Pacage"
BRAQUE (new) the white upright one. They all fell in love; Hill more than the others and asked for the price, $4,800.
PICASSO "Tete avec Pipe" (drawing). No success.
MATISSE "Carnival de Nice"
DELAUNAY "Disks"

MCKIM

He came in and I showed him our new paintings. He was highly enthusiastic.
