Mr. Germain Seligman - 3 July 1, 1947

(Letter to Mr. Arthur Pope, Fogg Museum of Art - continued)

three paintings by Manet, Van Gogh, and Degas, respectively, which we shipped to you some time ago, were covered by us, at our Mr. Germain Seligman's instructions, against all risks while they remain in your custody. In view of the figures you indicate, there seems to be a difference in the insurance valuations, and we are therefore transmitting your letter to Mr. Seligman in Paris in order to straighten out this matter with Mr. de Hauke. Yours very truly, "

I am really at a loss to understand Mr. de Hauke's attitude in this matter, since he knows full well that we have been insuring right along these three paintings for $27,000.- each on a special Lloyds floater which, by the way, just came up for renewal.

WINTERHALTER was returned by Miss Testut. This painting certainly looks marvelous now.

With best wishes,

Sincerely yours,

(O. A. Liechti)
