To Mr. Georges E. Seligmann

Dear Mr. Seligmann:
Miss Priscilla Crum, our Curator, has informed me of your willingness to lend several portraits to an exhibition being held here from September 10th through October 12th. We greatly appreciate your cooperation.

I come now to ask you to be so generous as to lend the following for this purpose:

Bronzino Portrait of Eleanor of Toledo
Vermeyen Portrait of a Man
Raeburn Miss Dalrymple
Catena Portrait of a Young Man
Colson Petite Fille

It would be our privilege, as is customary, to pay the costs of transportation and insurance. We will instruct Budworth, Inc. to call for the pictures late in August and will notify you a week in advance.

Sincerely yours,

Thomas C. Colt, Jr.
Director

From Mr. Georges E. Seligmann (Proposed reply)

Dear Mr. Colt:

Thank you so much for your lines of June 28, 1947.

As Miss Crum told you, we would be very glad to lend several pictures to your exhibition and those you have mentioned in your letter are at your disposal.

Nevertheless, there is one small difficulty. Our gallery will be closed during the month of August, so would it be possible for you to take delivery of these pictures during the week ending July 26th?

We have taken notice that you will pay the cost of transportation. We, on the other hand, will be very glad to assume the expense of insurance.
