Gentlemen:

On behalf of the Officers and Trustees of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the 75th Anniversary Committee, we wish to take this opportunity of expressing our deep appreciation of the very fine work you did throughout the campaign.

Without your help and that of the more than one thousand other public spirited citizens who participated with us in this effort, the excellent results would not have been possible. You are to be congratulated in securing over one million dollars from some two thousand contributors, as well as nearly three thousand new members, during a most difficult period.

The 75th Anniversary Committee is being dissolved, but this does not mean that fund-raising plans will be abandoned. Although we cannot build in the immediate future, efforts to raise the necessary funds will be continued, and for this purpose a permanent organization has been set up within the Museum.

We believe that you will be pleased to know that it is the decision of the Board of Trustees of the Museum to carry out the plans for reconstructing and enlarging the buildings, and expanding membership.

Sincerely yours,
Roland L. Redmond
