Dear George:

Welcome to London! Just one line to tell you that the heirs of René Gimpel have opened a gallery at 84 Duke Street. I just heard that a few days ago. I have not, of course, communicated with them and the best thing is for you to go and see what paintings they still have, though I understand that their prices are terrific - hair raising.

In view of everything, I doubt very much if I shall be going to London, unless you discover something sensational. It seems to me from all I hear that the only interesting or intelligent purchases one could make these days in England are primitives, as they seem to be as much neglected there as in the States. Thus keep an eye open for drawings or paintings, etc. I suggest also that you go to see Matthiesson.

I am looking forward to seeing you shortly in Paris.

Sincerely,
