Mr. Germain Seligman - 2
July 25, 1947

I just received your letter of July 19, 1947 from Ascona, for which I thank you.

Private Catalog - I turned over your corrections to Miss Bazner with some very pertinent remarks. You are right in all you say- if I had had time I would have checked all data myself- however, I must say, that she is showing great willingness in working quite hard.

FENEON PAINTINGS - I am writing to Mr. Boisson as per enclosed copy of letter.

LARGE STATUES- Received the mentioned documents and shall, as requested, take up this matter with you on your return.

MRS. PARKER- I informed her of your addresses after your departure from Ascona.

DATTELBAUM- A.G. BECKER & CO. - I had a long telephone conversation with him. He was most cordial and will be pleased to write to you (through my intermediary) giving you his opinion about the general market conditions, tendencies, etc., stressed more from a business than from the investment point of view. At the same time, I shall also mail you the usual statement indicating market quotations as at June 12th and July 31st.

MCKAY MORANT & CO.- We received a long letter from them with respect to our inquiry for a civil responsibility policy. They require a great deal of additional data and information, and I wrote them back that since you were away in Europe and that I myself was departing for my vacation, we would answer them in full after August 31st.

NESI - Received the following telegram from him: (July 24, 1947) BECAUSE OF COMPLICATIONS INVOLVING BOTH NOTES AND TRADEINS MATERIALLY IMPOSSIBLE PAY MORE THAN FOUR THOUSAND FOR CORNEILLE AND THIS PAYABLE THREE TO FOUR WEEKS AFTER RECEIPT OF YOUR ACCEPTANCE, PLEASE WIRE REGARDS

to which I answered: (July 25, 1947) AM TRANSMITTING YOUR OFFER TO MR. SELIGMAN IN EUROPE REGARDS

I am confirming my cable to you in this connection: (July 25, 1947) NESI OFFERS FOURTHOUSAND DOLLARS CORNEILLE PAYABLE FOUR WEEKS AFTER OUR ACCEPTANCE STOP OUR LOWEST QHOTE TO HIM FIVETHOUSAND NET STOP PERSONAL PROPERTY COST FIVETHOUSAND FIVEHUNDRED INVENTORY SIXTEENHUNDRED

I only wish to add, though you undoubtedly know it, that the above is one of the paintings which were formerly owned by the old society and by license transfer became your property.

PAINTING BY GUIDO RENI - A friend of mine from Switzerland send me two smallish photographs of a painting supposedly by that master, entitled "Saint Sebastian" which is for sale. I gave them to your cousin who spent a few hours up at the Frick to make comparisons. He finds that there is a similar painting in the Prado but thinks that, judging from the photograph, it might only be a copy (the one in the Prado). I would appreciate hearing from you whether or not you are interested in this picture. If [[crossed-out]] so [[crossed-out]] yes, I shall communicate with my friends in order to get some more information about pedigree, dimensions, collections, bibliography, etc.

I do hope that you'll enjoy [[?]] as well as you did Ascona -
With best wishes to you & Mrs. Seligman
Very Sincerely yours
O.A. Liechti
