July 15, 1947

Dear Mr. Pope:

We refer to your letter of July 1, 1947 informing you that we had forwarded yours of June 30th to our Mr. Germain Seligman in Paris.

We are now in receipt of his answer advising us that he has taken up the matter of insurance of the three paintings which we shipped to you recently, with Mr. Cesar M. de Hauke, who evidently does not realize that in view of the trusteeship vested in us, all communications with respect to this property should be addressed to our firm.

He also confirms, as we wrote you previously, that these three paintings are fully covered by our firm while they remain in your custody and therefore, you are entirely protected.

Mr. Seligman wishes us to tell you that he is very sorry that through a misunderstanding of the situation your time should have been taken up unnecessarily and trust that it did not cause you any inconvenience.

Yours very truly,
JACQUES SELIGMANN & CO.,INC.
