Dear Mr. Seligman:

I thank you for your letter of June 29, 1947 enclosing signed letter to the Fifth Avenue Bank of New York which I had dated and forwarded to them.

I communicated immediately with Mr. Rausch of Macomber & Company, and upon their advice, made a formal claim for the sterling silver square linked bracelet which Mrs. Seligman lost and which is insured on your floater for $75.-.

Respecting the shipment through the American Express Company of one corrugated cardboard box containing two coats which, up to your writing, had w. Marabu not reached you, I made a tentative claim. Should these items not be delivered to you by the end of the coming two weeks, I shall follow it up with a formal claim and hold them responsible for the replacement value of these two garments. This is in full accord with Mr. Benjamin, who tells me that by taking up action directly with the American Express, we would probably forfeit our rights against your underwriters. I should be very glad to receive any further communication which might be addressed to you by the forwarders.

PICASSO PLATES - Jack and I went to the warehouse to get the sixteen plates as requested by Knoedlers. I am sorry to report that we could locate only seven of them. An intensive search for the missing ones at our galleries and also at Brown's Warehouse failed to disclose them.

MINNEAPOLIS INSTITUTE OF ARTS returned in good condition the LA FRESNAYE "Quaborse Julliet". Acknowledged receipt.

PERSONAL BILLS PAYABLE - You will recall that Mrs. Seligman instructed me to take care of the few bills which she had not yet received the day before your departure.

Bloomingdales - Pat just gave me a bill from Bloomingdales covering purchases made from May 21st to June 10, 1947 in the amount of $93.80, which I find to be correct, checking them with the accompanying duplicate purchase vouchers. Shall I buy it or hold for your return?

I also received two letters from Dr. Maurice Markowitz addressed to you, which I have not opened, but which I believe contains bills. Please give me your instructions.

STOREROOM - Jack made the re-arrangements as per your instructions.

Trusting that you are having a marvelous holiday in Switzerland,
Sincerely yours,
(O. A. Liechti)

---------- Reopened for Editing 2024-02-20 08:09:41 Not sure whether it's Marabu. But if it is I think it's to be written after "I made a tentative claim". I Think it's a star or hashtag for the side note
