Dear Germain:

Just had the visit of Von Frey. He had had a call from Berliner who had asked him questions about the provence of the bronze, what his opinion was regarding the period and place of origin. He answered Modena, 11th century; stated that the firm had paid several thousands of pounds for the Bronze. All of this pleased Berliner very much as he also was of the opinion that the Bronze had been made in Modena. Frey will come back to see you after the 6th, having several things, I understood, to propose for purchase.

SCHAMES, nephew of a Frankfurter dealer. Showed me the photograph of a Soutin, $1,300.-, a boy in red against a big green background. He will be back around the 6th of January to bring a Seurat (??) along with him.

SOMERSET MAUGHAM came in, sent by Francois Gerard with a letter to you. I showed him several paintings. What he preferred was the Degas "Green Dancer". He will come in again. Lives at the Plaza.

In my last letter, I forgot to mention that Franchetti bought a Seurat book by you. This is business for Liechti to write in his books.

EICHHOLZ - She arrived in New York with a mission given to her by Duncan Phillips to go to the Museum of Modern Art to deliver a message. So she went and her painting is now sent to Cleveland directly, and she is now well known in the Museum.
