Dear Germain:

To come back to the deal through Rose Fried, the last increase of $100.- that she got was made upon my injunction to call her client long distance. And I promised here that above the 10% commission, we would reimburse her for the various telephone calls she has had.

I called Mrs. Tremaine. You will find a fiche concerning the plastic frame maker upon your return. She promised me her visit before long, and I could not, unfortunately, get anything constructive concerning the recent paintings she had seen the firm.

Wednesday was a very busy day: from 2 40 p.m. until 5 45

I had the visit of Mr. Smith of Manchester, New Hampshire who saw the Spanish Primitive, was enthusiastic about it, as well as the "Green Dancer", and the Tintoretto. I showed him several other paintings, but he thought they would not interest the trustees.

After him, came in a young Mr. Franchetti. With the help of God, maybe he will be interested in Seurat's mother, the drawing, and in the Triptych enamel, but while I am not far from expecting a sequence from Smith's visit, I hardly believe in a development from the Franchetti one.

Entre temps j'ai eu Smith pour cocktail et continue à avoir bonne impression. Il n'accouchera de rien avant fin janvier.

C'est le jour:

merry Xmas à vous deux

Bien tien
