December 22, 1948

Dear Mr. Seligman:

PULITZER- Mailed us his check dated January 1, 1949 in the sum of $7,000. (Seven thousand dollars) in full payment of the Braque. Appended please find copy of this letter of December 17, 1948 as well as copy of my reply of December 20th.

NEWBERRY- I am enclosing copy of his letter of December 16, 1948 in reference to his purchase of the CHASSERIAU drawing as well as copy of my reply thereto. As he did not state definite dates for the payments on account, I as well as Mrs. Parker thought it best to keep this matter in abeyance until your return.

MR.ROBBINS - Had a long meeting with him and Mr. Galton yesterday respecting the Wadsworth Sale, and after a thorough review of the matter, they have come to the conclusion that insofar as our books are concerned, they will show that all these items were sold directly at P.B. under the name of Wadsworth as nominee, which of course will automatically eliminate any sales as well as gift taxes.

I also talked to Mr. Robbins about the proposed letter to Mr. Fulda and I am going to establish now the balance sheet which Ihad submitted to you prior to your departure and turn it over to him together with my letter containing the suggestions you have in this matter. Mr. Robbins also tells me that Mr. Fulda wants to know the exact number of shares of common as well as of preferred stock he owns of the New York corporation. As requested by you, Mr. Robbins will prepare a draft of his letter to Mr. Fulda to be submitted to you upon your return.

KNOEDLERS returned the Mary Cassatt.

TESTUT returned the Juan Gris.

MONONGAHELA POWER CO. received the permanent certificate of 50 shares.

With best wishes,

Sincerely yours,

(O.A. Liechti)
