New York 22, N.Y.

July 14, 1948

Dear Mr. Seligman:
I received your lines acknowledging receipt of my letter of July 7, 1948 (which, by the way, was the first one I addressed to you.)

STOCK POWERS: I forwarded them immediately to A.G. Becker & Co.

ADDITION TO YOUR ADDRESS is noted and everyone has already been informed.

NUMBERING OF LETTERS: I think it might be a good idea if I numbered all of my letters to you, and I have given instructions to the Misses Cohen and Bazner; in other words, this letter will bear in the upper right hand corner "O.A.L.#3", and subsequent communications will be numbered accordingly.

SAN FRANCISCO MUSEUM sent us a mimeographed form containing instructions of insurance and shipping, which I filled in and returned to them, as per copy of my letter enclosed. I trust that I did not make a mistake by stating that we would carry the insurance ourselves.

VISITORS: A Mrs. Warner of Los Angeles (accompanied by a girl about 12 years old) came in during my absence. Being told that you were away traveling, she said that she would write a note to be forwarded to you.

FRED STERN came in asking to hold the Spanish Primitive up to about July 23rd, as contrary to his expectations his client would only arrive during the week of July 19th. I consented, but told him that after that date, the painting would have to go to the warehouse, as instructed by you.

CHADBOURNE mailed his check for $200.-, thereby reducing his indebtedness to $1,150.-; check deposited with the Fifth Avenue Bank of New York.

BIENNALE, VENICE: Appended please find copy of their letter of June 23,1948. Have not answered it.

APARTMENT: Received the following bills:
Consolidated Edison Co. Gas and Electric, May 3-July 3rd $19.36
New York Telephone Company, to July 1st 11.62
Dr. Markowitz, Professional Services 165.--

Will you kindly give me your dispositions thereon.

JANSEN, INC. just called for the painting by VALENCIENNES "Stone Bridge", as authorized by you prior to your departure.

Sincerely yours,
O.A. Liechti
