Dear Germain:

Delacroix paintings about which I wrote to you and which have passed in the sale: The Commissaire Priseur will tell you the name of the buyer upon first request. I am also of the opinion that the rejection by the Louvre throws a blemish upon those paintings, but one cannot forget that the Louvre possesses the masterpiece by Delacroix plus several others masterpieces by the same artist. What annoys me besides that is the possible difficulty of selling [[strikethrough]] the [[/strikethrough]] a Delacroix portrait.

MRS. OTTO KAHN died. I am very strongly of the opinion that I do my best to get her Rembrandt portrait on consignment. What do you think of it?

MORTON MAY was in town a few days ago. While dining at home, his brother-in-law told me that Morton had his assets cut by his divorce but felt morally much better. On offering to go to the gallery to see paintings, he backed out. He is not lost as a client for the art world, being still extremely interested in paintings and has started painting himself.

Sold on Monday the Juan Gris "Picasso" to Leigh Block for $12,000.-, the new frame being at our expense. We have, besides, & commission to his sister. It was a rightful fight in which she was amazingly active and ardent. They were finally not interested in any of the drawings. You will certainly be interested to know that they had just bought the magnificent pastel "La Tasse de Chocolat" (The servant bringing a cup of chocolate to a woman getting out of her tub, seen slightly from the back. 1 meter 60 or 80 cms. high. They bought it from Durand Ruel).
