Dear Germain:

On May 18th, Keith Warner came in, after I had sent him a little invitation. You will find a fiche concerning him upon your return.

Now that the cabins have been resold, it is definitely decided that we are not leaving. From many angles, I am more than sorry.

Thank you for your interesting letter of May 18th. As a comment about it, I want you to know that a Renoir drawing, about 70 cm x 60, was sold a few days ago at Kende Galleries for $7,000.-. It represented two children, Coco and a little girl standing, both about 70cms. high. The drawing was an attempt to place those two personages on the page with an enormous number of lines of repentir, and enhanced with a little pastel.

My second is that the museum in Manchester has bought from Rosenberg & Stiebel a Monet of the early period. From the photograph, I would date it around 1870.

I would like to draw your attention to the fact that a great deal of effort was made by our firm to get a foothold among the modern picture dealers and I think that we succeeded quite well. All of this means that I would not like you to abandon this line, although as you write so sensibly, it does not pay to but exaggeratedly expensive paintings.

As a conclusion, I hope that you will come across an interesting group of paintings.

I must add that the Metropolitan bough very recently two Van Gogh; one about 1 meter high "Cypress in a landscape" - our period. The other one "Sunflowers", 50 x 60cms.

CARRERRAS came in again.
I am expecting MORTON MAY and I am afraid not to see him.
