Letter No. 7 from EB

June 10th., 1949

Dear Mr. Seligman:

Today a letter from Mr. Richard S. Davis, of Minneapolis Museum.

"Dear Germain, I, too, am extremely sorry that your famous Gris painting, HOMMAGE A PABLO PICASSO, could not come to Minneapolis. However, I could not even ask to have it sent on approval until I detected a spark of interest. I showed the reproduction to Mr. McMillan, and he was quite taken with it. In fact, he has since read Kahnweiler's book and has become very interested in the HARLEQUIN series. The Cowles are also very interested in the Gris. Perhaps you can send a good example on approval in the fall. My plans for Europe are very vague, for they have to be fitted into my vacation time, which will probably be at the very end of the summer. More soon. Sincerely. (Signed Dick).

I answered: Dear Mr. Davis: In the absence of Mr. Germain Seligman, who is in Europe, I am forwarding to him your letter of June 8th., regarding the HOMMAGE A PABLO PICASSO by GRIS. YVS.

As of June 30th., Parke-Bernet Galleries (according to their June Bulletin of events) will occupy the Brummer Galleries, 110 East 58th. St., until further notice.

Also Edgar C. Schenck, I noticed a few days ago in the paper, is to go to Buffalo, succeeding Ritchie, as the director, as of September this year.

That is all for the time. I know that Mrs. Seligmanx left yesterday for, and do want to wish you a most pleasant last weeks of your stay, and with my best wishes,

Sincerely,

Mr. Germain Seligman
