FICHE TO: MRS. PARKER
MR. LIECHTI
MISS COHEN
MISS BAZNER

SPECIAL COPY TO MR. GEORGES E. SELIGMANN MAY 9th., 1949

FROM: MR. GERMAIN SELIGMAN

--------------

In my absence all the telephone calls which would ordinarily come to me will be turned over to Mrs. Parker to whom I have given special instructions on a certain number of matters.

Miss Bazner will use the first three or four days right after my departure to concentrate and finish the lists with figures started practically a year ago, and for which a special typewriter with long carriage will be [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] rented. In order to facilitate matters I would suggest as she may have to appeal to Mr. Liechti for explanations that she use the back room for doing this.

Also in view of the number of items Mrs. Parker will have to take care of in the next few weeks I would like Miss Bazner to cooperate with her.

Last year lists were started of paintings and works of art sold by this firm, which were never completed nor put in any final shape. I therefore [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] express the wish that within these coming weeks the lists which have already been established be typewritten with the indication as to whether we have a negative and photographs in order to be able to later to establish catalogues with photographs of such sold items.

One original and two copies of these lists are to be made - one to go into the file undertaken by Miss Cohen on artists, even if they are at times duplicating some of her work. These lists will have to be started and continued working backward from the most modern artists to the earlier periods, the more so as by doing so the bulk of the work will have bee done, the firm having sold in latter years more work of modern artists than of old masters.

In view of the strain under which Miss Bazner and Miss Cohen have been working the last couple of weeks I recommend they be given some extra leeway for resting periods, but on the other hand I do feel that a great deal of time is wasted by unnecessary conversations and by lack of office discipline which could cut short a great many of their working hours.

I have requested Mrs. Parker to rest a few days in May as well as in June. This is left to her judgement as soon as she will feel that she can take that time off.
