Letter NO V. To Virgin Islands EB

5 East 57th., St.
New York 22, N.Y.

July 26th., 1949

Dear Mr. Seligman:

Thank you for your letter of July 21st.

L'art Francasis et l'art Allemand du Moyen Age by Emile Mâle is ordered for the first week in September.

I have written the letter you dedicated to Mr. Clyfford Trevor, and the Robaut is marked.

Leonardo de Vinci. A catalogue of an exhibition of paintings by Leonardo de Vinci at the Los Angeles County Museum, arranged by Dr. Wm. Valentiner, which I consulted Mrs. Parker about ordering while you were in Paris, and which arrived a few days after your departure for the Virgin Islands.

The Martha Washington Curio Shop call re Eastman Johnson painting is on the Sept. list.

Re the Castiglione sales catalogue, I had asked Jack whether we have it before I went to the library, but we do not. I intend going up to the Met library later today to look for it, and also Planiscig's book on this collection, as well as the Van der Meulan.

There is a letter from a Mrs. Fleming - Mrs. Robert W. Fleming, Washington, D.C.,; "Dear Sirs: Enclosed is a list of paintings which I would like to sell. Any advice which you can give me in this matter will be greatly appreciated. I will be in New York on July 30th., and if you are interested in any of these items, will be glad to contact you at that time. Sincerely, Martha S. Fleming."

Copy of the list is enclosed. I answered her - In the absence of Mr. Germain Seligman, President of this firm, your letter of July 19th., will be held for his attention upon his return in Sept.

Mr. Fred Stern returned the photograph of the Ingres drawing, telling me that I should convey the message that his client is not interested because the drawing is on yellow paper.

A wedding invitation arrived yesterday from M. et Mme. Garreau-Dombasle, announcing marriage of Mlle. Francion Garreau-Dombasle to M. Jean Louis Sonnery. The wedding was on Saturday July 23rd. I have not sent an acknowledgement of the invitation, as, as M. et Mme. G.D. are personal friends of yours,I thought perhaps you might like to write personally. The address on the invitation is: 31 rue de la Faisanderie Paris XVIe "Le Vieux Logis" - Verneuil-sur-Seine (Seine et Oise).

with best wishes

Sincerely,
Eleanor Bazner
