IV
LETTER XXX TO V.I. EB

5 East 57th., St.
New York, 22, N.Y.

July 20th., 1949 (96°)

Dear Mr. Seligman:

A letter from Mr. Morgan - F. Cleveland Morgan, The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, 1379 Sherbrooke St. West., -

"Dear Mr. Seligman: I wish I could be more specific in my reply but with so many people absent in the summer it seems impossible to get meetings of committees together. I would not like you to lose the sale of the Siennese painting and so will not as you to hold it; but will certainly keep it in mind to see what can be done. As you know, it is always difficult to reopen a question once it has been closed so I am not over-hopeful in the matter. SY"

Answer" Dear Mr. Morgan: Your letter of July 18th., regarding the Siennese painting has been received during Mr. Germain Seligman's absence, and will be held for his return in September. YVS.

The photographs have arrived from the Philadelphia Museum.

Otherwise there is nothing but heat and more heat, without any relief in sight yet. I'm beginning to see mirages with cool oasis, and windswept beaches.

With best wishes and regards to you and Mrs. Seligman,

Sincerely,
[[signed]] Eleanor Bazner
